Wednesday 17th January 2024 - Northern Lights Trip - Day 5
We set off early today for our 2 hour drive South to Moen to Aurora Huskies for our Dog Sledding day. Skies were absolutely crystal clear all day today and tonight as well. We stopped off at my favourite frozen waterfall half way there and a quick coffee break and arrived in good time to meet the owner of the dog sledding Bjorn. We were introduced to the dogs and given a safety briefing by the guides and then had 2 hours of fun through snow covered forests and frozen lakes.
My viewing point for tonight is going to be Vikran to Malangen and had lots of viewpoints in mind. After a nice meal at Eidel Handel of Salmon and Garlic Mayo Potatoes we crossed onto the Island through the Tunnel and waited out the start of any Aurora show. I picked out the Aurora Oval around 8pm but tonight it was ultra weak with no Substorms imminent and a KP0 reading we were looking at very brief dancing of Lady Aurora, we still got some nice movement and lovely Mountain backgrounds over the Fjords so everyone was happy to have our third showing of Aurora Borealis and this time just 15km West of Tromso!
Some Pictures of our final night of the trip.
